About

Crystal Springs is located on 70 wooded acres along the Dowagiac River. Massive oaks and maple trees tower over the facility. They provide cool shade on warm days and an explosion of color in the fall.

We host camp groups of up to 125 during the summer and retreat groups up to 60 in the spring and fall. Day use for your group’s picnic, church service, youth group outing or a quiet walk in the woods are available. The historic Tabernacle at Crystal Springs was built in 1890 to host revivals for over 3000 guests. The vast 12,000 square foot barn still features its original wood beams and charm.

Previously Crystal Springs was operated by the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church. The two Michigan conferences (West Michigan and Detroit) recently combined their camps to form a new entity to manage them: Michigan Area United Methodist Camping.

Crystal Springs Camp and Retreat Center

While they were here, they joined a discussion about how we hear God, wrote a short story with the writing group, ate lunch with campers and laughed along with us during silly Olympic Games. ...
