About

We are a United Methodist retreat center located on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. With hotel-style guest rooms, we can comfortably host groups year round. Our facilities are ADA accessible, including a walkway to the beach.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to an atmosphere of rest and renewal through Christian hospitality.

Our History

The ministry of the Lake Huron site began in 1946 as Lake Huron United Methodist Camp. A rich history of providing camp and retreats for children, youth and adults continued into 1998. In November 1998 through 1999, a $1 million renovation took place. In January 2000 the site reopened as Lake Huron Retreat Center with a ministry focused toward adults.  Renovation work continued through the years, resulting in a modern and comfortable environment for a variety of groups.

Operating year round, the site is available for churches and not-for-profit organizations. It is the perfect location for a day away with modern, comfortable meeting rooms. LCD Projector, white board/cork board, podium and keyboard are available in our meeting rooms. We have an excellent food service program that accommodates those with special dietary needs.

We sponsor a number of annual retreats and programs, including God’s Treasures Camp (a program for adults with special needs), Lakeshore Interlude (a mid-week summer event for senior adults) and God’s Treasures Winter Weekend.

Since 2017, the At the Water’s Edge private retreat cottage has welcomed clergy and laity for the specific purpose of spiritual growth, study and renewal. The cottage sleeps four (two bedrooms each with a queen bed) and comes with a fully equipped kitchen and internet service.

In 2020 R&R Retreat Weekends and R&R Family Weekends were introduced. These quiet getaways offer individuals and families time for contemplation, rest, enjoying nature, etc. — while the dedicated Lake Huron Retreat Center staff takes care of you. Leave the cooking and cleaning to us, you focus on you and your family!

In 2022 Lake Huron Retreat Center expanded its programming and now offers a variety of spiritual renewal retreats. Those looking for personal (undirected) retreats may call our Guest Services office and inquire about availability.
