Does camp change lives? Let me introduce to you Jasper and Tricia Shangle our 2018 High School Camp Deans.

Jasper and Tricia (Terkeurst) have been an active part of LMC&R for years, both as campers and as volunteers. As young adults, Tricia returned every year counseling our High School youth, Jasper working with our Elementary and Middle School youth. In 2014 Tricia and Jasper both volunteered during our High School week, in 2017 Jasper proposed to Tricia during youth camp, and in 2018 they returned to Co-Dean our High School youth camp as Mr. & Mrs.

But the really fun part of this story, Tricia and Jasper both attended Elementary Camp here at LMC&R in 1996!

Jasper and Tricia will continue to be a positive influence on our High School youth during our first ever Winter Retreat in February and during the High School Extreme Faith Challenge next summer. And while we won't promise you will meet your future spouse at camp, I think everyone will agree that Camp Changes Lives!

This is just one example of how camp changes lives. Tell us your story!

Our story is VERY similar! My husband and I went to Wesley Woods UM Camp together in middle school and then also to Lake Louise in High School. We didn't exactly run in the same circles then. But, years later, in 2004, I was deaning the Wesley Woods Miiddle School camp and ran into Jay (my future hubby) and asked him if he'd like to serve on our camp staff. He agreed. At the end of the week we decided to start dating. One year later, in 2005, at the same middle school camp he proposed to me in front of 200 middle schoolers at the talent show! Happily married ever since. Our ministry looks different now, but its a joy when we still get to do it together!

Great story! Where do I find info on the winter retreat? I’m looking for a combined MS/HS winter weekend.
