Volunteer

Without our volunteers we would not be able to continue to grow in our efforts to make disciples of Jesus Christ. You can choose to join us for a work day, volunteer for a week of camp, or bring your group to do a work project.

Volunteers are always needed for short-term projects.  Spring, summer and fall are critical times in which volunteers can be utilized for gardening and landscaping. There are also simple maintenance projects to be completed during that time – including carpentry, painting and facility clean up.

To volunteer or learn more: Contact lakemichigancampdirector@umcamping.org.

Summer Camp Dean / Director (volunteer) – The heart of our summer camping youth ministry.  Recruit counselor and develop an unforgettable program that leaves kids: having grown in their relationship with Christ, having had the best summer of their life, and wanting to come back as soon as they can.

Counselors (volunteer for a week or make it part of a whole summer employment at the lake) – Come spend the best week of your year here at the Lake.  Show kids leadership, discipleship, and insane fun!

Campground Host: Campground Host will assist in customer hospitality and with minor grounds or housekeeping responsibilities. This is a volunteer position of no more than 20 hours per week in exchange of a campsite with electric and water hook-up. Position available from May 1 – October 1.

Head Cook: Head Cook will work with camp director in planning and executing meals for our three weeks of Youth Camps: June 23-29, July 14 -27. Volunteer or paid position with campsite or single person cabin provided.

Kitchen Assistants:  Assist Head Cook with executing meals and clean-up for our three weeks of Youth Camps: June 23-29, July 14 -27. Volunteer or paid position with possible campsite or staff housing.

Warning: you may want to be seated when reading this post: Major storms this weekend once again wrecked havoc on our beach😢.

Today’s walk to the south beach shows that the walkway/bridge (put in place this summer) has been overtaken by water.

The good news: the “drop off ledge” by the lake is gone...as is most of the dune grass.

Time will tell what next summer’s beach will be!
