Your five-day adventure begins at Lake Michigan Camp. You will be outfitted with kayak, PFD, paddle, tents, gear and food supplies for meals at our UP campsite. The plan is to depart around 1 pm in the camp van (optional to bring your own car, though not necessary). Purchase your own fast food meal on the road (or pack a lunch) en route to Bay Furnace Forest Service Campground, outside Munising. We will set up camp together, make camp meals together, enjoy campfires. The group will enjoy three full days in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, along the shores of Lake Superior to paddle, hike and explore. On rough water days, enjoy day hikes to scenic waterfalls and shorelines, or rest at camp. We will depart the UP on Thursday, Aug. 24, allowing time for a scenic side-trip as we return to Lake Michigan Camp by late afternoon. Registration includes transportation, kayaks, food (except for meals on the road) and lodging. Bring your own clothing, sleeping bag and personal items. Please include any dietary restrictions when you register.
Check in Sunday noon; check out Thursday late afternoon.
There is much to do at the end of the camping season, and we can use your help. Task include taking down tents, putting away equipment and cleaning up. Come for the weekend or come for the day Saturday. Please let us know you’ll be coming by emailing info@lakemichigancamp.org.
Volunteers can camp for free that weekend. Meals provided Friday night through Sunday morning. Thank you!!
