Lakeview Campground Closing

March 26 Update: A Decommissioning Service will be held at Lakeview Family Campground (5300 W. Cutler Rd, Lakeview, Michigan 48850) on Saturday, April 10, 2020 at 2 pm. Lakeview Campground is being sold and the Michigan Area United Methodist Camping Board is holding a final worship service to celebrate the ministry of this site.
Attendees are asked to bring a chair and wear a mask. The service will be outdoors with physical distancing practices in place. Following the service there will be a time for people to wander the grounds one final time to remember and say farewell to this holy place.

[March 15, 2021] We regretfully announce we are unable to operate Lakeview Family Campground’s 2021 season for our guests and groups.

In the process of selling the campground the prospective buyer indicated we should go ahead and plan to operate this summer, and in January we proceeded to do just that. In late February the buyer communicated to us a change and told us that they did not want us to operate this summer after all. It seems that we have no choice in the matter at this point but to abide by their wishes.

Michigan Area United Methodist Camping realizes the hardship this places on the many users of Lakeview Campground who planned to camp there this summer. All seasonal guests have been informed, and we offered to refund their deposits or transfer their reservation to our Lake Michigan Camp & Retreat site in Pentwater.

The decision to sell camps has been a prayerful, difficult and needed strategic process in order to enable the remaining sites and ministries to be financially and missionally sustainable. We ask your patience and prayers as we seek to fulfill our mission to create transformative camp and retreat experiences that develop disciples of Jesus Christ.
