Lakeview Family Camping Fun

Mike and Anne Comer and other members of First UMC of Eaton Rapids wanted to create a family oriented event outside the church that would allow families time to relax together. The camping event they held at Lakeview Family Campground drew 11 families with ages ranging from 5 to almost 80 in tents to fancy RVs. It was a great weekend!
Anne explained they kept it simple with a few planned activities, like “tie dye” shirts with Sharpies and rubbing alcohol, a campfire with s’mores and singing, and a shared dinner Saturday night. They collected an extra $10 per family to help purchase food and supplies.
They enjoyed use of the campground’s free bikes and boats by spending Saturday afternoon swimming, biking, fishing, and boating. After dinner the group took a nature walk led by one of their own, a retired DNR employee. In the evening they played trivia and sat by the campfire. On Sunday Mike, a retired pastor, led the worship service on the beach. Anne said they had fun and will talk it up so even more families can participate next year.

This is just one example of many groups who visit Lakeview Family Campground each summer to create special family memories.
