Summer Camp Delights
The woods are alive with laughter and song! The waters rejoice with splashing, stillness and sunsets and sunrises.
Four weeks into our summer camp season and we are reminded why we do this! Children, youth and adults growing through new experiences, adventures and building of new friendships. Hearts and minds connecting or reconnecting with a spiritual foundation that God loves you — your authentic, real self!
Our post-camp surveys invite families to reflect on their campers’ experiences and growth during camp. One parent reflected about their camper’s closeness with new friends and a sense of belonging. “I felt welcomed,” he shared with his parents.
Another parent told us, “It was truly amazing to witness our daughter’s inner transformation and growth. When we picked her up at the end of week, she was all lit up and literally glowing with happiness and confidence. It was so beautiful. Her eyes were sparkling and she kept singing and dancing the whole ride home (3 hours)! This camp experience was such a gift for our daughter and every single leader and counselor did an incredible job making our daughter feel safe, loved, and accepted for exactly who she is. As a result, she was able to come out of her shell and have the time of her life!”
Grandparents at Grand Camp got to be part of their grandchildren’s first camp experience. They told us how excited they were to sleep in cabins and have lots of fun with crafts, swimming and games and they can’t wait to come back next year!
Called By Name
This summer’s theme gets at the heart of who we are as children of God. The names we carry — good and bad — affect how we see ourselves and our relationship with God and the world. Through ancient stories of Moses, Zaccheus, Ruth, Naomi, Simon Peter, Jesus and others, campers learn to be curious about God and how God empowers them to live in the world. We don’t want to give away too many surprises for those who will come to camp over the next few weeks, but if there’s a camper in your family, be ready to ask them about their God encounters and what stories they connected with. You might be surprised about what take-aways they name and claim.
There are limited spaces available for the rest of the summer, so if you have not signed up for summer camp, there are still opportunities for children, youth, adults and volunteers! We hope to see you at camp! Upcoming Events
