New Myers Lake Host is Familiar Face
Electric/Water Upgrades Coming for 2018 Season
Returning guests to Myers Lake Campground will likely recognize its new summer host. Ron Bell, along with his wife Cindy, has been working there since 2008. Ron knows the ins and outs of the family and group campground as well as many of its guests.
“Ron understands our mission and ministry, and he’s looking forward to the planned upgrades for electric and water hookups for the 2018 season,” explained Rev. George Ayoub, Executive Director of Michigan Area United Methodist Camping. “He’s very excited to work with pastors and others to develop Sunday worship and weekly Bible study, plus grow on-site vacation Bible schools with local churches.”
With his long history at Myers Lake, Ron said he plans to continue the legacy of outdoor ministry that has grown over the years, especially the fellowship of everyone gathering in Christian community. “I’m easy to talk to and enjoy the outdoors,” Ron said. “New guests will see top-notch hospitality – that’s my number-one goal. Whatever you need, we’ll get try to make sure you get it.”
The upgrades this spring will bring water hookups and 20/30/50 service to all the individual sites (1-60) and Group sites 1 & 2. The lakefront lots (61-78) and Group sites 3-4 already have sufficient service for the newer, bigger RVs that require more power.
The Myers Lake camping season kicks off April 27-29 with a FREE Camping Weekend. Guests camp for free and volunteer on Saturday, April 28 to help prepare the grounds for the summer. Volunteers are asked to report to the barn at 9am Saturday for work assignments and are usually done by 4pm. Reservations are not required for camp sites. Cabins are available, but reservations are recommended (two were left as of this writing). Email email@example.com.
The regular camping season runs May 1 – October 15. Michigan Area United Methodist Camping operates Myers Lake Campground along with eight other camp and retreat properties in the state. Myers Lake reservations can be made online at http://umcamping.wpengine.com/camps/myers-lake.
