Snacks for Camp Scholarships

Delegates to the Annual Conference of the Michigan Conferences of the United Methodist Church get hungry. (Who wouldn’t be after hours of energizing worship, church business and legislation discussions?) Fortunately, delegates rely on Camping to provide a snack bar for quick refreshments during breaks in exchange for donations toward camp scholarships.

It is one of our biggest camp scholarship fundraisers and conference members are very supportive.

Conference delegates and visitors are encouraged to sponsor a camper for a day for $70 (roughly the cost of attending one of our camps for children, youth or adults for one day). Sponsors receive a button that entitles them to free snacks and soft drinks during Annual Conference!

This year an “I Love Camping” donation at the $100 level or more (between now and May 30) includes the snack button plus “thank you” gifts of an insulated travel tumbler for hot or cold beverages, a water bottle, pen and collectible stickers for all Michigan Area United Methodist Camping locations. This offer is limited to the first 50 donors at this level, while supplies last, pick-up only at Annual Conference (Grand Traverse Resort)

Advanced donations are recommended by texting CHANGINGLIVES to 91999 and completing your pledge by May 29 (your thank-you gifts will be waiting for you at the snack table). Donations can also be made now and throughout the event online at http://bit.ly/UMCampingSponsor

The conferences, through ministry shares/apportionments, provide about 20% of our operating funds, your donations and camp fees make up the remaining budget.

Your support means we can continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ through outdoor ministries. Thank you!
