Good things continue to happen here at Lake Michigan Camp & Retreat as we wrap up our 2020 projects.
In our north camp, we are completing a project (three years in the making) that includes upgrading electrical and water.
- Campers in sites 1 through 14 will be excited when they arrive next summer to see upgraded 50/30/20 amp pedestals and WATER at EACH site!
- All new extended Platform Tents for 2021. The last 17 old green tents will be replaced with extended tents. The new tents will be on site for Opening Day 2021 (Saturday, May 4, 2021). Tents will have four beds in them going forward (no bunkbeds).
- Remodeling four bunkhouses to make them more “family friendly,” including removing old bunkbeds and replacing with four twin-size bunks (they now sleep 8 instead of 12). Upgrades will be completed in the spring to add a table, chairs, countertop and mini fridge.
- Major tree work has been completed removing dead/dangerous trees and branches, as well as removing a few trees to open up campsites to allow for larger trailers and additional parking.
- The Welcome Center / Camp Store was repaired from a leaky roof and carpenter ant damage.
These capital expense projects were made possible because the Michigan Area United Methodist Camping Board made hard decisions during the past few years! Thank you board members for your love and support!
