Wesley Woods Leadership Team Growing

Wesley Woods Camp & Retreat Center (Michigan) is seeking an experienced full-time year-round Site Director to lead its team through the fulfillment of its strategic and master plan. The Site Director reports to the Executive Director of Michigan Area United Methodist Camping, a three-site, program-oriented nonprofit organization born out of The Michigan Conference of the UMC. Applicants are invited to share their leadership skills, passion for outdoor ministry, enthusiasm for innovation, growth and vision. Be part of the launch of a new brand (coming this fall!) that helps break down the barriers between us and God, and each other — giving time and space for the building of community based on love, inclusion, forgiveness and hope. See Jobs page.

As of Sept. 11, Nicole Holton will become Assistant Site Director, responsible for hospitality, guest services and program development. With her gifts and passion for Wesley Woods and outdoor ministry, she’s excited to strengthen the camp’s commitment to Christian hospitality and partnership with guests as they enjoy the beauty of the site and the time set apart for retreat and spiritual growth.

“We’re ready to take Wesley Woods to the next phase and grow the opportunities to serve children, youth, families and organizations with the United Methodist Church and those who may not have a church or any religious experience for that matter,” said Executive Director Rev. David Berkey. “Nicole started at Wesley Woods in February 2020 as site director and her leadership has been instrumental in moving us forward through that challenging time period.”

Expanding the leadership team now will allow the organization to grow its year round programming and continue to improve its infrastructure and hospitality to guests. Rev. Berkey will serve as interim director during the director search process.
